Holy

But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1: 15-16

To be holy is to be set apart. Holiness means that everything that you do and everything that you say is ABOVE and BEYOND what is considered acceptable. To put it simply, holiness is the act of having God’s standards as our own.
Looking at Jesus, we see our example of holiness. He achieved great things, but He was humble. He was scorned, but He didn’t get bitter. He didn’t hide His gifts, but He used them to serve His community. He was respectful of the earthly traditions of His culture, but He didn’t allow human rules to limit the purpose of God. He respected men and women of different backgrounds. He defended those who were treated unfairly. His very presence assured mankind that life is meaningful. By being holy, He changed the world.
Christmas time reminds us of Jesus and how He chose to be set apart in order to make a difference. This season, read His story, choose to live a life of holiness, and do your part in changing this world.
