A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.
Many verses in the Bible directly relate the quality of cheerfulness to the state of the heart. In order to rejoice cheerfully in our circumstances, we must be aware of how we take care of our hearts.
The heart is sensitive. The way we talk and act, what we allow ourselves to be part of, and the relationships we have all affect its very nature. If the heart is full of negativity, unkindness and selfi shness, then these attributes will show themselves in the way we live.
Alternatively, if we allow ourselves to genuinely receive hope from Scripture, comfort from the Holy Spirit, and act with Godly wisdom, our hearts will be full of the love of Jesus, which will pour out into our daily lives.
